The PMGA United Family Convention is truly a one-of-a-kind event. Whether you are someone living with PMG, a family member or friend of someone diagnosed with PMG, a caretaker, medical professional or researcher, those of us at PMG Awareness Organization can guarantee that you will have an enriching and unforgettable experience at this convention. It is an event that will reinforce the understanding that we are all in this together and we should all consider ourselves as one family, always and forever!
Not only will this event be educational, but it will provide opportunities for connection. The goal of this event is to focus on the families and for those living with PMG to know they are not alone, and loved ones and caregivers to find support and encouragement to continue pushing forward. Everyone involved will have the opportunity to interact with others who know exactly what they are going through. All attendees will come away with a much greater appreciation for all involved and it will be nothing short of life changing!
We are very excited about the speakers that will be presenting throughout the weekend and we are certain that each one will touch your heart in some way. Friday will be a day focusing on the well being of the family unit as a whole and Saturday will be geared towards the medical aspects of PMG and all of it’s related parts. We will end the event with our celebratory dinner reception/party on Saturday evening with amazing food and entertainment! RSVP will be required for the dinner.
As requested by many who have attended conventions in the past, we will be providing times during the event for our heartwarming “Stories from the Heart”. This is an opportunity for individuals/families to share their story, from diagnosis to present, with the group. Owning our own story, loving ourselves through the process and sharing how it has impacted our lives allows us to be vulnerable and can provide an overwhelming sense of relief. Many benefits come from admitting what we sometimes fear the most. Stories create community and enable us to see through the eyes of others. We hope that you will step out of your comfort zone and allow yourself to be seen and heard. You will be able to sign up to share your story during the registration process if you feel called to do so.
Also, our very own new Team PMG Awareness race car, as well as our driver, Tom Haacker, who happens to be PMGA’s biggest supporter and fan, will also be making an appearance. Come and meet Tom, see the car up close and personal, take photos and sit in the drivers seat! All PMG children/adults will have an opportunity to place their name on the car if your name has not been placed previously. You don’t want to miss this!

Hilton Orange County/Costa Mesa is located in the heart of Orange County and is right between Los Angeles and San Diego. It is located steps to the world-famous shopping centers such as South Coast Plaza and Fashion Island. It is near iconic Orange County beaches such as Newport and Laguna Beach, which are known for their great surfing and prestigious art galleries. A few miles away is the Disneyland Resort, Knott’s Berry Farm and Angels Baseball Stadium. Located 2 miles from the hotel is the famous Orange County Fair, which will be open during the week prior to and after the convention.
Take an hour drive south to San Diego and enjoy Legoland, SeaWorld, San Diego Zoo, Wild Animal Park and the famous Gas Lamp District.
Take an hour drive north to Los Angeles and enjoy Universal Studios, Hollywood Walk of Fame, Getty Center, Griffith Park Observatory, Santa Monica Pier and so much more! Drive up to the Hollywood sign, take a tour of the celebrities homes in Beverly Hills, visit the famous Rodeo Drive, or take time out to enjoy a baseball game at Dodger Stadium.
Whichever direction you go, the possibilities are ENDLESS!
The Hilton Orange County/Costa Mesa is 5 minutes (3 miles) from John Wayne Airport/Orange County and offers free shuttle service to and from the hotel and airport. It is 25 minutes (20 miles) from Long Beach Airport and 45 minutes (36 miles) from Los Angeles International Airport. ***Please be advised that the free shuttle is only for the transportation between hotel and John Wayne Airport.***
The registration/check in process will take place at the hotel on Thursday evening, July 23rd, and the actual convention will take place on Friday, July 24th and Saturday, July 25th. The convention will conclude on Saturday evening with a dinner reception along with dancing and entertainment. You won’t want to miss this event!
We have secured a group rate of $169.00 a night. This price is quoted per room, per night, and is subject to applicable state and local taxes at the time of check in. This group rate will be available three days prior to the event as well as three days after the event (based on availability) for those who would like to elongate their stay. We have also secured some other group rate discounts for things such as parking and valet, which will all be covered once we get the registration information available to you.
