Letter From The PMGA Board Regarding The PMGA United 2020 Family Convention!
Ohana Mau Loa – “Family, Always and Forever”
To Our Dear PMGA Families:
Due to the unfortunate events surrounding the Coronavirus pandemic, PMGA has made the heart wrenching decision to cancel the PMG Family Convention scheduled for this summer in California. This decision was not made lightly, but our first priority is to put the well-being and safety of our families and children we serve above all else.
We have been discussing the possibility of this happening for quite some time now but continued to face each day with hope and optimism that this would all take a turn in a positive direction. Unfortunately, it has not. As of today, California’s governor has started to enforce the cancellation of any gatherings where people will be in close contact with one another, specifically mentioning those who are at a higher risk for severe illness (immunocompromised) as well as support groups for people with health conditions. As of today, along with the suspensions of all major sporting events, concerts, conferences and business meetings, it was also announced that Disneyland and Universal Studios will shut their doors temporarily and we can only assume many more closures to come.
On a more personal level, we have received word from a few of our planned speakers that they already are or have the high probability of encountering travel bans and/or restrictions making it impossible for them to attend the convention at this time and they are not certain what the situation will be in a few months. With so many “what if” scenarios from a strategic planning standpoint, we have been encountering difficulty getting our agenda confirmed. With the health and safety of our PMG families weighing heavy on our hearts and knowing about so many of your concerns and uncertainties with traveling during this time of unknown, we felt it important to make this decision sooner than later.
PMGA is currently working with the hotel and has requested that we be granted the ability to postpone (rather than cancel) until next summer of 2021. We will keep you up to date as we learn more, but we are hopeful that we will be able to reconvene when everyone is in a much safer and less compromised position.
If you have already registered for the event, you will be receiving a full refund for all costs. You will be receiving an email from us shortly and we will make sure that you receive your funds in a timely manner. If you have already booked your hotel room reservations, the email confirmation you should have received should have a link for canceling or modifying your reservation. If you need further assistance, please call Jennifer, the hotel reservation coordinator at (714) 438-4526.
Please accept our deepest apologies for any inconvenience this may cause you and your family. We are hopeful that we will see all of you next year to continue our “Ohana Mau Loa, Family, Always and Forever” celebration.
– Sincerely, PMG Awareness Organization, Inc.
